Remove the background from a drawing for a stencil
Photos of sketches come with grey paper, shadows and notebook edges that end up on the stencil as smudges. This tool evens out the paper and removes the background colour (automatically or with an eyedropper) first.

Everything runs in your browser: the design never leaves your device.
How to use it
- 1Upload the photo or scan of the drawing (or take it with your phone).
- 2Keep “Even out the paper” and “Remove the background colour” on; adjust the tolerance or pick the colour with the eyedropper.
- 3Download the design without background (PNG with transparency) or the stencil ready for the thermal printer.
Tips
- Photograph the sketch straight on and in soft light: the more even the paper, the less there is to correct.
- “Connected” only removes background touching the edges and keeps that same colour inside the drawing; “All of that colour” removes it everywhere.
- White shapes (“Cover”) let you hide by hand whatever the automatic clean-up misses.
Frequently asked questions
Is my drawing uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser; the image never leaves your device.
Which formats does it accept?
PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP and SVG, up to 60 MB and 120 megapixels.
Does it work with coloured backgrounds, not just white?
Yes: the background colour is taken from the edges or picked with the eyedropper, and the tolerance decides how far a colour can be from it and still count as background.
